Draw or Paint a tree a day for forty days starting Sunday, June 5th through Thursday, July 14th.
Lately we have been involved in plein air painting events and a couple of us were talking about the difficulty of trees. The idea came up that we should do a challenge to improve our tree painting or drawing skills.
Every day paint or draw a tree and post your experience and tree pictures here in the comments below. Let's encourage one another and get really good at trees!
If you aren't able to do one every single day... that's ok. We still want to see the trees that you do when you do them during these 40 days.
Pentecost is Sunday, June 5th this year. This is the day we celebrate the Holy Spirit descending on the Apostles and becoming making the Holy Spirit readily available to us. The word for spirit in Hebrew is "ruach" which is also the word for breath and wind. If you are painting on site and see the trees move it is because of the wind, the same word for spirit and breath.
As we start painting trees on Pentecost I wanted to recommend this podcast from the Bible Project which explains "ruach" really well including the wind moving trees example and it is super inspiring! Listen, paint, draw and think about God's Spirit. bibleproject.com/podcast/holy-spirit-part-1/
Here is another podcast called, "Human's are...Trees?" which will be fun to think about while painting/drawing trees.
